Daniel Novela

Daniel was born in Louis Trichardt, on the 1st of December 1964 in Mozambique- Filipe Novela, Gaza province, Southern Mozambique.

Daniel attended, Tlangani Primary School.  In 1982 at the age of 17, Daniel spoke to the provincial Director in the Department of education in Maputo about furthering his studies, secondary education. He was given a place in a government boarding school in Matutuine secondary school near Maputo, where he studied up to Std 6 (the school’s highest level).

In his 1st year, Daniel was nominated as the best student for Std 5’s and in the following year, was exempted from Std 6 exams because of his exceptional distinctions.  Daniel moved to Klerksdorp, where he established a career through painting. He always had a strong interest in art and had begun painting at the age of 9.. In 1998 he was given an opportunity to enroll at the fine arts faculty, Vaal Triangle Technikon for the National Diploma course. In 2000, Daniel completed his 3rd year for National Diploma course successfully and became one of the best students.

Daniel is currently busy with B.Tech Degree in Business Administration at the Vaal University of Technology in Klerksdorp Campus. Daniel is married to Frangely and they have two children: a girl and a boy. Daniel has developed a powerful range of techniques and paints subjects that are close to his heart with sensitivity, depth and sophistication. He has participated in a number of exhibitions and community arts projects.

Daniel is without a doubt one of the finest landscape impressionists that South Africa has ever produced.  His work mostly celebrates the rural landscape and it evokes a strong sense of reminiscence for carefree days growing up in the wide open tranquillity of the countryside.  His immense talent and passion for nature is evident in his lightness of touch and richness of colour that almost glows.

The exhibition of his work by Serious Art provides an opportunity to art connoisseurs and new collectors to access some of his finest work to date. His previous works have been taken up by both local and international collectors in countries as diverse as Australia, Switzerland and the United States.  It’s clear that local and international collectors see more than an extraordinary technique and passion for painting; they see Novela as a good investment.
